İlk defa askerliğim için gittiğimde ayak bastığım, ve sonrasında aşık olduğum mükemmel bir lokasyon, şahane bir ada. "GÖKÇEADA" Yani eski adı ile İMBROZ.

Askerliğim sırasında tanıştığım be irtibatımızın kopmadığı komutanımın yanına ziyaretim.

Mimari dokusu koruma altında ve Kentsel sit alanı olan Dereköy, Kale Köy, Tepeköy, Zeytinli, Eski Bademli Rum köyleri.. Bir zamanlar ünlü manken olarak tanıdığımız Nefise KARATAY'ın babası Orhan KARATAY'IN sakızlı muhallebisi, akın akın ziyaretçi çeken madamın meşhur dibek kahvesi, Baba YORGO'nun enfes şarapları, Madam ELENİ'nin mezeleri....

Kısacası herşeyiyle gezip görmeniz gereken bir yer.

Antik adı İmbros (İmroz) olan ilçe, 1970 yılında Gökçeada adını almıştır. Türkiye’nin en büyük adasıdır. Kıyı şeridinin uzunluğu yaklaşık 95 km. olan adada 5 gölet bulunmaktadır. Su kaynaklarının çokluğu bakımından dünyanın dördüncü adasıdır. Yılın büyük bir bölümü rüzgâr alan adanın coğrafi yapısı çevre adalardan oldukça farklıdır.

Fatih Sultan Mehmed’in İstanbul’u fethetmesinin ardından, Homeros’un yazdığı destanlarda adı geçen kentin bulunduğu Gökçeada 1455 yılında Osmanlı İmparatorluğu topraklarına katılmıştır. 1912 Balkan Harbi yenilgisinin ardından Yunanistan’ın kontrolüne geçen ada, 1923’ te Lozan Antlaşması’ndan sonra tekrar Türkiye’ye bağlanmıştır. #Alıntı

The district, whose ancient name was Imbros (Imbros), was renamed Gökçeada in 1970. It is the largest island of Turkey. The length of the coastline is approximately 95 km. there are 5 ponds on the island. It is the fourth island in the world in terms of the abundance of water resources. The geographical structure of the island, which receives wind for most of the year, is quite different from the surrounding islands.

After Mehmed the Conqueror conquered Istanbul, Gökçeada, where the city mentioned in the epics written by Homer was located, was annexed to the Ottoman Empire in 1455. After the 1912 defeat in the Balkan War, the island came under the control of Greece, and after the Treaty of Lausanne in 1923, it was again annexed to Turkey.
